About Me

My photo
Minnesota, United States
I am retired and loving it. I have a wonderful husband of 55 years. We have 3 awesome children, 7 fabulous grandchildren and 8 incredibly precious great-grandchildren. I enjoy reading, walking, biking, card making, tatting, X stitching and quilling. My winters in Minnesota are spent mostly indoors while in the summer my husband and I spend quality time on our Harley enjoying the beautiful scenery in our area. I hate to cook, love anything sweet and have mixed feelings about exercising.

Some October Cards

Where has the time gone?  I can't believe my last post was in September. Here are a few of my October cards.

Shades of Blue

Yesterday I received this beautiful handmade basket.

I wanted to make a thank you card using the same shades of blue.  I fell a little short.  It turns out that in natural light the blue I selected for the border was actually more on the purple side than blue. Good thing it's the thought that counts :-)

Thanks for brightening our world!

Today is my middle child's Birthday.  I made this card for her in shades of purple because purple is her favorite color. Thanks for being such a wonderful daughter....Happy Birthday!

Granddaughters' Birthday

I made this card for my Granddaughters' birthday.  She likes butterflies so I try to find a way to use one on her cards when I can.  The butterflies and the tiny flowers were tatted by me.  The image is a Wee digi (my daughter helped me alter) colored with pencils.  TFL

Outlawz CAS Challenge

Today I made this card for the Outlawz CAS Challenge to make a retirement card.  I used a Mo Manning digi  stamp called Fishing.  I used PrismaColored pencils to color my image and added a computer generated greeting.   TFL

WOW it's the middle of May and I haven't added a thing.  My tatting is taking over my life!
Here are my last two challenge cards.   TFL

This is my final guest DT card for the month of April.  I had a lot of fun creating my entries.    Thanks Outlawz for asking me, and a special thanks to my daughters for their helpful suggestions.

Tatted Doily

This is my first ever tatted doily.  It may not be perfect but I think it’s a beauty!

Tatted foot thongs

I finished my first pair of foot thongs.  My tatting has advanced from card fronts to foot wear thanks to all the help I received from Katy King.  If you are interested in this pattern or any of her other creations they can be found at http://www.etsy.com/shop/RustiKate?ref=shop_sugg

This weeks challenge at Outlawz was to create your own background paper. I made mine with digi flowers, Versa Mark stamping dusted with Perfect Pearls.

Dance in the rain

I made this card last week for the Outlaws challenge.  Today we now have 12+ inches of snow on the ground. We'll be dancing in the snow if this keeps up much longer. So much for April showers.

Still Tatting

I'm still tatting and hopefully improving.

I love making kids cards.  These were made for my great-granddaughters for Easter.

April Showers 1

I was asked to be a guest designer on The Outlawz http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/
I will be posting my cards for the month of April Monday Greeting Challenges.
This is the first one using a Rick St. Dennis digi image.

Tatted birthday card

Today is my sister's birthday.  My OLDER sister :-)   I'm still trying to improve my tatting skills.  Here is the card I made for her.

I'm having lots of fun learning to tat. This is one of the cards I recently made (for an amazing friend named Rosy) with tatting.

Outlawz Challenge Card

I’m sorry I haven’t posted any cards in a while. I had some health issues that got in the way of my creative juices. Hopefully things will continue to improve and I can get back on track. This is a card I made today for the Outlawz TT challenge to make something with a sport theme. I used a digital figure skating image colored with pencils. My papers are from SU.

CAS Outlawz Challenge January 13, 2013

This week’s CAS challenge on The Outlawz was to make a card with a music theme. I used spirelli to create my image. I sponged ink onto the background and tag to give it some depth.

The Outlawz CAS challenge 1/6/2013

I was honored to be asked to be a guest designer on The Outlawz CAS team for the month of January. My first card theme was to “use something new”. I’m new to tatting so I started there. I added some new tatting thread, a new crystal teardrop, a new stamp and there you have it….my new card.

Monday’s card challenge on the Outlawz was to create a project with a vintage feel. Nothing feels more like vintage than a pretty piece of tatting….and nothing says vintage worse than a misshapen piece. This heart is terrible but it wasn’t my fault…really…the pattern had two mistakes in it!
